Welcoming the Fall Season

Welcome Fall

The leaves on the tree across the street began to fall a couple of weeks ago. The green grass fades into the background as reds, golds, oranges, and browns now cover the ground in its place. I feel that first crisp chill in the air as summer is winding down. The world becomes a little more visible as the trees become transparent without their thick covering of leaves.

My how the world around us changes with a simple switch of the season.

It’s harvest time again.

Pure Joy

Fall is the time of year when we transition from the harsh heat of the summer to the welcoming cool breezes of autumn. The cozy colors fall make their debut. Campfires fill their air with their smokey, warm goodness. Piles of leaves begin to form in front and backyards followed by cheerful giggles of children jumping into the piles.

grace and grattitude

There seems to be an overwhelming feeling of thanksgiving during the harvest months. Besides the obvious holiday, smells of apple cider and pumpkin spice always bring about a heightened sense of nostalgia.

Harvest Abundant

Reminds me of this verse:

The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. – Matthew 9:37

What if we adopted a new nostalgia during the fall season? What is we used this time of year to share Jesus with others out of the abundance in our hearts? Jesus told his disciples that there is a large harvest of potential believers out there, but the laborers to go and bring them into the Kingdom are few. It’s like an entire apple orchard brimming with an abundance of apples and no one to pick them. It’s exciting to me to think that Jesus could use me as His laborer. What a special harvest that I could reap!

Gathering Grain is all about abundance. Abundance of love, life, prayer, and blessings.

Let’s pray that as we enter into this new season that God shows us where we need to reap, but also where we should sow.

The first day of fall is Wednesday, September 23rd!

If you LOVE the pillow wraps in my pictures above like I do, Family Christian is the place to get them! I am in love with their new home decor products. Those adorable pillow wraps are only $6.90! You can find them at your local store or online!

My favorite is my new Grace & Gratitude lumbar pillow. It has brought a cozy and warm feeling to my chair. They have so much more than pillows, though! Head to Family Christian and take a look around!

A Little Fun Carving Pumpkins

IMG_2361It doesn’t seem like it’s time for Halloween just yet. I still can’t believe that summer is over. We are already making Thanksgiving and Christmas plans! Wasn’t that just last month or something?

We always have trouble deciding when to carve our pumpkins. The girls are always chompin’ at the bit to get them done, but knowing that they go bad so quickly I like to hold off as long as possible. This year we carved them not too far into October. Just as expected, they began to go bad that same week. But we still have the memories!

Here’s a peek into our fun. Each one of us picked out our favorite design. In the beginning I was really ambitious. Picking out intricate things that looked cool.

That didn’t last long.

Meet what was supposed to be Olaf. Yeah, not so much. I ran out of room for his eyes so they ended up way far apart. And his nose? Kinda looks like a piece of candy corn on steroids..

But I will say this. He looked much better in the dark!

 Addie loved her pumpkin anyway!

This is Britton’s kitty cat. Was probably the easiest one that I did. And get this, I didn’t even use a pattern. I’m like a pumpkin-carving ninja.

She adored her kitty. She did not enjoy getting the goop out of the inside. 🙂

This is my pumpkin. All by hand again. I know, I know. I need to have my own pumpkin-carving reality show. This flower was easy. And just a tad simple, but it was cute!

Here’s my pumpkin. I had just carved 3 of them so I was poooooooped.

Hubby did a fantastic job on his John 3:16 pumpkin. It was seriously representin’ when lit!

IMG_2347

He was so proud. He should be! And by the way, he’s such a hottie isn’t he?!

I’m throwing this one in there for you. It’s what happens when the hubby takes the pictures. He snaps a billion of them creating a cartoon like strip of photos where you look both stupid and hilarious at the same time.

What about you? Did you carve pumpkins early on or do you wait?
